I have an opportunity to by a 455 engine which is a ZU code with 6H heads. I am trying to find out if this would be a good match for my 64 Lemans. Or at least something to begin with. The engine has to be rebuilt so I would eventually over time replace the cam, heads (at some point) and replace the typical items that need refreshing. My car is an automatic so I believe the ZU code is for autos. I have a freshly built Turbo 350 tranny. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Appears the ZU was used in 74 and 75. Is the Turbo 350 from a Pontiac, if not you will need an adaptor plate. You may eventually have to do something with the rear axle to make it compatible with your mods.

Do some readings on those engines. I think starting in the mid early 70's they started making the engines with different materials, sizes and weights. The engines from the late 60's and early 70's are better for boring and longevity.
