hello. whats all your opinion on a 79 10th anniversary, has a rebuilt olds 455 engine, seller in process of finding the year. he had it rebuilt, j heads, mild cam, new cam rings new crank and one rod, has headers and flowmaster.

he got engine from salavage yard as he bought car without engine.

whats your opinion? also, can air cond. be hooked back up, is there room?

car is in fair shape, fairly new paint but the striping is not correct size.
he asking 9K.
thanks!

sounds like a lot of money for a pieced together 79 TA that needs work.

I would keep looking unless the body, interior plus condition warranted that kind of money.

not sure what you mean by is there room for AC, the cars had AC available from the factory. If it's missing you will have to find an AC system for an Oldsmobile engine which may be problematic. Without pictures nobody can give you an answer whether the car is worth 9k, it no longer has the original engine and maybe missing the AC equipment.

I deceided not to pursue that car . the striping is wrong so basically needs repainted.
the Olds engine I was told is bigger than a Pontiac 455, wider and higher, therefore room for a/c is next to impossible, especially with headers.

I am about to give up on finding T/a. shoot, I can buy a 78 25th anniversary vette for the same money or less and in better shape too.

popularity cost, when I was 18 or so these cars could be picked up for cheap. In the late 80s I traded a 1980 Toyota corolla 2 dr for a 1978 blue TA with a 455 Pontiac and 4 speed.

It even had the original paint, no rust with black interior. If I had paid cash I would have only paid 900 dollars.

I was browsing ebay today on 1968 chevelles. most going for $8K and more for just a Malibu.
I had a 68 Malibu 327 in high and a portion of college, sold it for $800 in 1979.

now they going for $8000. geez.. is this crazy or what?

9000 bucks for a 78 TA 455 would have been a bargain that's for sure.

I wish I still had every Pontiac I ever owned.

well, I kept my parents 77 grand prix at least. I had it repainted 5 months ago, interior is good. they bought it new in 76, so I have all papers with it, build sheet, window sticker.
is brown with rallys and landau roof and tan interior. is in great shape. it has the 301 which aint fast but is all original and starts and goes. car was built in 76 so it is basically a 40 yr old original engine and tranny. but looking for a half decent trans am that aint priced like gold is another story
