The transmission went out in our 2001 2wheel drive Aztek. We put it up for sale and can’t seem to give it away so now I am going with the idea of changing the transmission myself. I believe I can do the mechanical end of it, but I read that the transmission needs to be programmed to the ECU. Has anyone had any experience with this? Did you have to go to the dealership and did it run it first before you got it programmed and the programming was just fine-tuning to make it run better, or did you have to tow it to a dealership to program it and match it up with the new transmission?
