I have an '83 Trans Am with the 5.0 liter engine. I have an oil leak around the lower front area, pan, front main, or timing cover. It's not enough to worry about, I change oil once a year (<5000 mi,) and never need to add during the year. But it looks bad and I would to like fix it.

I'll clean it and then check bolt torques on all of the covers, and then try to spot the leak. Can I remove the pan with the engine in place? If it's the timing cover, will it come off after removing the crank pulley?

Thanks.

Well thanks for the link, but at this time oil loss isn't bad enough to pull the engine. I'll do a little cleaning to see if there is something easy to fix it. I check oil at each startup, too.

Thanks again
