After the second time of someone forgetting to unplug their heated seat cushions, I've decided to try to figure out how to make those 12v power outlets switched with the ignition. I have been researching how people are achieving this in their trucks and what not, and was wondering if anyone has tried the diode(s) at the BCM harnesses on these cars? I believe the BCM is inside the center console underneath the radio, but not sure of the pinout?

I'm also interested in figuring out the 6 Hi mod, where the low beams and fog lights both come on when the hi beams are activated. I think this could improve nighttime visibility. So has anyone attempted either of these mods on their Torrent?

wouldnt it be easier to add a power outlet hooked up to a switched fuse

Thanks! I think Easy would be like in some Chryslers, where you just move a relay and then outlets are switched ;)

I'll most likely be removing the front panel to access the radio soon, so was really looking to see if any Torrent/Equinox owners had tried any of the diode-jumping tricks at either the relays/fusebox or BCM for either of those desired mods I asked about.

I guess my ultimate goal for these heated cushions could be to have them wired into a vacant location in the fusebox. I'm thinking 10amps would be called for, since that's what the plug end's glass fuse says.

i might eventually go as far as even installing another relay for making the included ports switched, but wanted to see if anyone had any experiences with trying either of those modifications.

For the 6hi mod, check your State Laws. Some States don't allow more than 4 Lights on. I know, old post.

Not that old and you are correct about the state laws

did you ever figure out the 6 hi mod? I'd love to have this on mine for all the back country roads I drive.

Why not just upgrade bulbs?
