61 bubbletop

I’m rewiring my 1961 bubbletop and the pigtails for my headlights won’t separate. So is there a way to get to the pigtails other than removing the grills? I haven’t rewired a car for 28 years and don’t want to find out the hard way that there’s an easier way to do it that I missed.
