63 Bonneville Questions

Hello to all,
I have a question about 1963 pontiac bonneville - 389.
The car is running hot, idot light lights up on a hill and in standstill traffic on a hot day 90 degrees or so. When car is moving it cools again.

I intend to flush the radiator system and refill coolant.

My question: were NON AC 63 bonneville fitted with a fan shroud ? Does anyone know ?

If they were not fitted standard was overheating a common issue ?

I am considering adding an electric fan, but I am investgating the fan shroud first. my thinking is the car shouldnt needone. I have located a shroud and think it will help and possibly solve the issue but any thoughts advice welcome

Without a shroud the fan won't pull alot of air through the radiator. if the radiator is in good shape it should solve your problem.

thanks for confirming. Whats confusing me is it seems shrouds were only fitted to AC cars

most of these seem to have shrouds, what temperature thermostat are you using 180 or less?
