Hey everyone, wondering if anyone can help me out. I haven't been able to get my 64 Catalina running in over a week since we had a huge rain storm; it just cranks and doesn't want to fire. I suspect water got somewhere and affected an electrical component, but Im not sure where. I sent it off to a shop to see if they can figure it out, what should I tell them?

You probably have moisture on the outside and inside of the distributor cap. Take the cap off and wipe with a towel to get it dry. Then spray WD-40 on the inside and outside of the cap to displace any remaining moisture.

If the car starts, then I would replace the cap, rotor and spark plug wires. If you don't then you will have the same problem again after the next rainstorm.

if ths shop is competent they know what to do but you could have checked the cap and rotor and the ignition coil yourself before having it towed to a shop.
