MELSG5-
You asked earlier what was the other carb called out in my 67 pontiac service manual. Ther basic chart just mentioned 2bbl, 4bbl and qjet. In further reading, in the carb operating descriptions of what came with that year it has a full description on how the Carter AFB works. Thats in addition to the operating descriptions on the Rochester 2bbl and the QJet. Leads me to believe that they were talking about the carter in the generic 4bbl listing. Possibly they slipped some Carters in sometime during the year??

Well, the motor is out of the car my first opportunity to determine the motor size. Its a 400 CI original motor in a 1967 Convertible. I thought it had a 290 HP motor in it. I expected to see an XB, XC, YA,YB, YC, YD. Instead I see a XV! My 1967 Pontiac service manual does not list a XV.

Can anyone enlighten me, please. Again, it is the original motor. Never been opened.

Thanks

Ed

Well, the rebuild is complete and the motor has been re installed. Its up and running. Had a bit of trouble adjusting the airhorn opening on the Qjet but that's OK now also.
VERY little wear on the 180,000 mile engine. Cam and lifters were almost like new as well as the bores and crank. We put a slightly hotter cam and shaved the heads only enough to true them up. Bored the motor 30 over. Everything else new inside. It runs nicely! Next project is dual exhausts for a little more power.

My question now is..I am converting from idiot lights to gauges and don't know where to tap in for the oil pressure. Can I replace the sender at the oil filter and use that? If not, where? Its a 1967 400 CI motor.

Water is no problem.

Thanks
Ed

how about a T fitting leaving the idiot light and a working gauge?

Great idea! Is there any way to do something like that with the water?

i would imagine with the right collection of brass fittings you can come up with something for water also
