Hello all, I just recently bought a 67 Firebird project. It has a 68 350 and 4 speed in it, it also has old headman 3 tube headers. It didn't have the bar the attaches from the Z bar to the clutch fork, so I ordered one. It came in a few days ago, as I was installing it I realized it was way to long, even adjusted as small as it would go. Then I noticed the Z bar looked odd, so I took it out. Someone cut the outer arm off and welded it in a different spot, so I ordered a new Z bar. The Z bar came in today, as I was installing that I figured out why someone hacked up the old one, the inner arm on the new Z bar hits the center tube of the header. I took the header off and of course everything works perfectly. So, my question is, has anyone ever seen this issue? If so what do I do? Are there certain headers that clear the Z bar? Is something else screwed up?? Thanks for you're help.
