Finishing up the 2nd week since I started working on the LeMans. The inside of the convertible has been gutted out and the parts are in pretty bad shape. I need a good "A" convertible donor.
We've also pulled the engine and transmission. Having the transmission and short block overhauled should not be a problem, but I need a good head shop in SoCal to overhaul the head.
Any help on any of this is greatly appreciated.

Any pontiac clubs in your area?

Ask the Chevrolet club for machine shop recommendation.

Don't mean to sound trite, but how is a Chevy club going to help me with a head used only by Pontiac?
I have an excellent machine shop in the San Diego area that did a great job on the 327 340 hp engine on my '62 'Vette, but he told me he didn't work on these engines and the guy he recommended didn't want to touch it.

Well, I cannt help you on specific machine shops across the country so was trying to help you find a local reference. The guy who did your vette had no recommendations?

Yes he had one, but when I called him he said he was not interested. I have someone doing the block and he told me had someone who had a machine shop who could do it.
I was skeptical but the guy has an engineering degree so I guess if he can interpret the specs he may do OK.

Check the "Inliners" forum online or Facebook, they may be able to help...👍

I agree with Doug, the hardest part of rebuilding a OHC-6 is finding someone who is willing and able to rework the head, it is very different fro the Chevy pushrod six. I would suggest getting a copy of the 1967 Lemans/Tempest service manual, that manual goes into detail about how to service the valves. The final valve height is critical on a OHC-6, other wise the valves will hang open if they are to high, or not open enough if they are to low.
I once had a shop grind the valve seat to far, they saw the valve were sitting to high, so they ground off the tops of the valves. I checked the height, and it was ok, installed the engine and it ran great for a few hundred miles, than the tops of the valves mushroomed and the valves were barely opening, and the engine ran like crap. Learning experience.
