I have 68 LeMans, all stock and am looking to upgrade the carb and intake. I plan on using the car on weekends, to ride around. Maybe show off a little.
I'm not sure what I should go with as far as carb and intake.
I would eventually like to do ram air...down the line. Any suggestions would be great.

Start off wth telling us what you have now, a 2bbl or 4bbl? If you have a 2bbl look at the packages from Edelbrock that include manifold and carburetor. If you already have a 4bbl setup, keep the carburetor and look at the Edelbrock manifolds. You can find these products at www.summitracing.com or www.jegs.com

sorry, I thought I included all the info in my first post. Right now it has a 2 brl. I don't plan on changing out cams or anything else, According to the calculators on summit and jegs, a 650 carb would be what I need, but when I do a search on both sites by the car model, engine size, etc. both sites say I should buy an 800...So, I guess the question now is, 650 or 800?

A 350 CID engine doesnt need an 800 CFM carburetor. 600 to 650 is the correct size. For a manifold try the EDL2156 and an EDL1406 carburetor 600CFM or a Holley 0-80679 Street Avenger 670 CFM.

Thanks for your help. I went with the Edelbrock set.

One last question, when looking at the stock intake, what is the hose/plug the is to the left of the radiator hose. It looks like a cluster of hoses that screw into the intake.

Thanks,
Chris

Yes, that is what the sensor/switch does. You do not need it, just run a vacuum hose from a constant vacuum source on the manifold/carburetor to the vacuum advance unit on the distributor.

Ok, so I am cleaning the engine up before I install my new intake and carb. I removed the old intake and carb and to the front left side of the engine is a metal fitting/ nipple sticking out. It looks like it will fit between an opening in the new intake. Any ideas on what this is?

do you mean the PCV sitting on the valley cover? It had a hose on it connecting to the carburetor?

Hey guys, Have a question about a transmission swap/conversion. Currently, I have a 2 speed pg in the car. I am interested in swapping out the 2 speed for a 3 speed manual. I have access to a 3 on the tree tranny out of a 75-76 Chevy full size van. My question is: 1. can a 3 on the tree be converted to a floor shift? 2. Does anyone know if the Chevy manual 3 on the tree will use the same adapter plate as a T350 would use to mount on to a Pontiac motor? 3. Is this kind of swap/conversion really worth it?
My use of the car will will consist of neighborhood driving, very little interstate driving and of course trying to shut up anyone in a Chevy, Ford or Mopar.

If this conversion is worth it, is there a site that sells this kind of conversion kit with all the "other" parts needed to convert an auto to a manual? I have a stock 350 with edelbrock 4 brl carb and new intake.

Pontiac and Chevy from the same time period used completely different transmission bolt patterns. Trying to put some type of 3 speed manual from the mid seventies sounds like a complete waste of time if it can even be done. Save your bucks and either go for a muncie or saginaw 4 speed or update to a modern 5 or 6 speed. If you call www.amesperf.com they can point you to all the components you need to go from an automatic to a manual.

Thanks for the advise. I found a M-21 that I plan on picking up this week. Any idea if I will need a new drive shaft going from a 2speed pg to a M-21?
