I have a 69 firebird with pontiac 350(all stock with a holly carb n hei dist. ) and 350 trans
Looking to regasket engine( it runs ok and right now don't have enough money to rebuild it) what else can I do while I'm there.....?? Any tricks or tips.....???
It will be a daily driver ..........
Thank you in advance

what do you mean by regasket? which gaskets? at the same time you state you dont want to rebuild so not clear on what you are trying to accomplish.

Reseal may be better word........
Replacing valve cover ,intake ,oil pan ,front timing cover gaskets as well as a full major tune up.
I'm cleaning and painting all parts removed
What can I do to intake...??
Any minor mods to motor with out going all the way in....?
Thank you

Right now engine is out of.....well the whole sub frame is out of car
While it's out I will clean n paint.....
Replace some gaskets and....??

1. replacing the timing gears and chain
2. replace rear main seal
3. check condition of lifters and cam, replace if necessary.
4. Check condition of rocker arms, if necessary replace with Competition Cams roller tip.
5. is it a factory intake or aftermarket, if factory replace with Edelbrock.

Was planning on new chain n front n rear seal....
Intake is stock......(port n polish it...?)
Or just edelbrok....??
Has holly dbl pumper(used)
Check cam ....?
Add roller rockers.....?
Dress up intake n add roller rockers
Rest of motor stock....??

port and polish is a waste of time/money on stock cast iron manifold
not roller rockers, roller tipped rockers less expensive and work fine for a stock engine

A cam change would really wake up the engine, also what rear gears does it have?

As for a reseal on a used engine, I have found over the years it is a wasted effert (with the exeption of valve cover gaskets.) Most oil leaks happen due to excessive internal pressure in the block, mostly caused by worn piston rings. The crank case pressure has to go some were so it finds the weakest gaskets to leave the engine from.

What you plan on doing isn't a bad idea, just be prepared for it not to solve all of your Oil Leak issues.
