Hi all,

I purchased my first Pontiac a couple months ago. I have owned a couple 60's cars but have very little knowledge/ability to trouble shoot issues and I am hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this one:

There is a very high pitch sound occurring while driving, when I accelerate I can hear it, as soon as I take my foot off it goes away.

It does not happen while in park.

I believe the sound is coming from the front of the car, but it's hard to tell.

Two things I've recently had done to the car (I did not hear the sound prior to this). New tires, had the exhaust finished (it used to dump down around the middle of the car, I had the pipes extended to the rear). I have checked and cannot see any issues with the exhaust and I wouldn't think tires could be the problem, so probably just a coincidence.

Not sure if my description will be enough for your analysis, but I appreciate any thoughts you might have.

John

Check for a any loose belts for the fan, alternator, power steering, and A/C.
