So while I am in the Middle East my 1969 Lemans Convertible is in PA getting some much needed work. I thought I would keep you guys up to date on its progress.
I inhered it from my Grandpa several years ago after he died. It has been in the family since 1969. Was originally gold but was quickly painted red. My grandparents used to drive the Pontiac in parades and is well known on Long Island. They used to touch up the paint on the hub caps by hand. Has some cool options such as factory air which worked until I drove it from New York to VB. Compressor stopped rotating, made for an interesting sound and smell going 80 mph.
350 with a 2 speed power glide, all stock.
Being a NY car all of its life it didn't have too much rust, really no visible rust at all. After I started using it in VB, and with the top shrinking the windows not sealing very well, water would leak in and soak the carpet. Now I have a significant rust problem.
Right now the entire floor is being cut out from dashboard to rear seat and replaced.
New top is being ordered, window components rebuilt, new carpet.
The plan is for it to not leak, stop, run, and pass PA inspection. Then after that I will work on restoring it further. It will be my daily driver once I return to the states.
I intend on passing the car on to my daughter, not anytime soon though.
Will post some pics when my wife sends a couple to me.

thanks for the post on your project and for your service.
