Purchased a nice 77 Grand Lemans. Engine tag under the hood says 305 but all info I can find never lists a 305 engine. Somebody square me away?

Is this a Canadian car?

Canadian built car exported to the US.

1977

"For 1977, the LeMans GT option returned on the Sport Coupe. It came standard with the handsome Grand Prix dash and instrument cluster. A two tone paint scheme was adopted with the second color covering the roof, tops of the doors, A pillars and the "ironing board" on the hood. A stylish stripe seperated the paint colors. The GT fender decal was larger than in previous years. The package could be had with the formal or louvered quarter windows. Standard features included blacked out grills, body colored sport mirrors and Rally II wheels. The RTS package was standard in all 77 LeMans models. Available engines again included those available in the rest of the LeMans line and were a catalog of GM corporate engines, with a 231 cubic inch V6 on the low end and the Pontiac 400 V8 4 bbl on the high end. In between were Pontiacs new 301 cubic inch V8, and a Pontiac 350. Even Canadian Built LeMans' were exported to the US with a 305 Chevy built V8. To add to this engine soup were the Olds built 350 and 403 V8 engines in the California market. Only the V6 was available with a manual transmission. The NASA hood was no longer available, having been retired after the 1975 model year."

Yes I finally looked up the VIN and it is listed as a U so 305 made in Canada. Thanks everyone for the help. Now looking to decide on going back with opera window trim or try finding some louvers to fit.
