Big Question for anyone who might lend a hand. im kinda new at the whole engine transplant thing. i picked up a pristine 1979 Firebird Esprit with the Olds 403 engine. After deciding that one needed a complete rebuild i swapped it out for a 73 pontiac 350 which would work great except the block on the 350 doesnt have that extra hole closer to the bell to move the motor mounts back. is there an adapter of some kind i can use to make it work cuz i really want to use this engine. i measured on the 403 16 inches from the bell to the inside of the mount and only 10 inches on the 350. please, any advise would help!!!!

79 TA Motor Mounts

If you look at the frame, there should be holes for other motor mounts. Just go to a junk yard and get you some pontiac engine motor mounts and bolt them in. I noticed the other holes on my 78 I had years ago.

Yup, Pontiac had 2 styles, the 2 bolt and the 3 bolt.

Nunzi and HO Racing both sell adapters that you can use either block in either chassis.

All 455's had both (5 holes, 2 bolt or 3 bolt could be used) up to 74 or 75, 76 being the oddball. 400's did after 71 or 72. Not sure on 350's. All 301's were 3 bolt only. I think ALL engines 77-up were new style 3 bolt. The only chassis that could handle either was the 70-81 F Body, but I cannot confirm.
