PART NUMBER: 7809576: With the exception of a used one on eBay, I cannot find a power steering pitman arm for my 79 TA. RideTech has it in their catalog, but in speaking with them, the pitman arm has been back ordered since July. Jegs has the RideTech steering kit but it was delivered with the center link, idler arm, inner and outer ties rods and adjusters, but without the pitman arm. Jegs, Summit, Speedway, Napa, Autozone, Advance, National Parts Depot and Classic Industries, do not have it. Any suggestions?

Any chance the Camaro uses the same arm?

Camaro is the same. Decided to buy used pitman arm on eBay and the remainder of the linkage is available new on eBay, albeit from multiple vendors

I ordered a used pitman arm on eBay. I want to replace the center/drag link, but that is quite an issue. The 70 to 81 Camaro Center Link only fits the the 80 to 81 Firebird. There seems to be a subtle difference that The tech at Speedway Motors says should not impact the pre 80 Firebirds. My only thought is that the 80 81 did not have the 400/403 engines and may be the issue with the center link. Speedway will take this kit back if it does not fit, but I do know the center link in this kit is the Moog DS829 which Moog does not show as a fitment on its web site for the pre 80 Firebirds.

This Ride Tech kit includes the Pitman Arm (back ordered since July) but Jegs sent the kit without the Pitman Arm claiming it is really not included despite the photo and description. I sent it back and decided to buy the used pitman arm and search for a center link.

I will advise if I figure out the center link issue. I’ll call your suggestion, Ricks Cameron, re their center links.

i think this is the center link. This may be helpful to others out there. Melsg5 found the Proforged pitman arm at the link provided above and Holley Performance also has the pitman arm and provides steering linkage rebuild kits from Proforged. Problem Solved If Holley charges shipping I’ll use Amazon.

Why do you need a new pitman arm?

Would not come off the old box.
You used a pitman arm puller?

I have two sizes of puller. I soaked, I heated with box in the car and tried it all again with the box in a vice. I cut a groove in it and it pulled off with my puller and I brought the old steering box to Napa for my core deposit refund. I was amazed it would not come off even though it was on there 42 years. More heat and patience would have eventually worked I guess, but I only have a MAP Torch and not enough patience. :)

Hey Jolo, which pitman arm did you end up going with? Did you resort for a used one?

Purchased used on eBay from jimglasscorvette:
