'81 firebird espirit, and I need HELP!

I recently bought the espirit from a friend of mine, for my girlfriend. Her brother got out of the passanger side and slammed the door by accident. Ever since, we havn't been able to get the door open.

After some basic investigation, it looks like the striker is hooked around the bolt, and I cant seem to trigger it to release. The door will open enough for me to get a screw driver it, but i don't want to trash anything further.

I tried spraying wd40 on the handle mechanism and on the striker, and it just doesn't want to come loose. The door panel will only come off but a little bit, and I don't want to damage that.

please help!

Something came apart inside the door.

put your window all the up have some one pull the inside handle as to open the door. lay in the back seat and give it a few stiff kicks. usually the inside handle stays attached well the exterior one fails. you may want to put a big prybar under the inside back corner of the door and see if there is any sag to the door as well.(not the out side of the door will cause damage) these are just ideas you can try.
