[my first 86]

hi my car was running now it wont start its a carburated 2.5 is this going to be expensive or an easy fix is the fuel pump internal or external i cant hear it and the car started to run rough and when i stepped on the accellerator it died and wont start any advise on checking things would be great thx

First it isn't a carb, It is a throttle body injection.
Does fuel spray when you try to start it? If so then it is not the fuel pump.
The fuel pump is in the fuel tank. You need to drop the tank to get to it.


Here are some common things to check:
Fuel pump - Do you hear it when you turn thr key on?? Is the fuel line pressured?
Clogged Fuel filter can als lower fuel pressure so th einjector won't spray correctly.
Ignition module or coil - Do you have ignition spark?
Fuel injector - Sits in the middle of the throttlebody. Thee can be easily removed and check at most shops.
Clogged catalytic converter - If fully clogged air won't flow thru engine.
