87 firebird charcoal canister removal

can anyone tell me if its ok to remove the charcoal canister from my 87 firebird? just trying to clean up the engine compartment. will it cause problems if removed?

No problem but you have to put some sort of filter on the line coming from the tank.

all the vents from the fuel bowl and gas tank are directed so the gasoline has to pass through the charcoal canister, the gasoline combines with the charcoal so it doesnt escape, and at the desired time it is vented back into the engine
