My son's 1987 Pontiac Firebird is running so rich that it is using allot of gas and even stains the driveway from the exhaust. It also jerks allot when between 2500 3000 RPM. We have already replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, oxygen sensor, throttle position sensor, spark plugs, and air filter. We also checked the timing and it is set correctly. Any ideas???

it could be the fuel pump regulator dumping too much gas into the injectors.

Try the fuel pressure regulator. WHen these things go bad, there is no trouble code, but they eat gas like crazy!!! After you change it, replace the plugs with Bosch Platinum or Nippondenso Iridium plugs!!! Good Luck!!

Pull the vacuum line off of the fuel pressure regulator. If there is fuel present, the diaphragm is shot.
