Ok, heres where im at. i've got an 87 fiero formula and im entering a very strict race that requires a "stock" car. only few mods can be made. so here's what i was wondering, anyone try larger injectors on a pretty much stock engine. any benefits. i will have slight valvetrain mods and a little higher than stock compression. complete engine overhaul and mild exhaust work. any thoughts on cheap easy mods that aren't really noticable to the naked eye.

If you havent done anything to cram more air into the cylinders what is the point of larger injectors, your computer hasnt changed so you will be too rich and lose power. For ideas look at the Performance tab at www.fierostore.com

well, the reason i ask, is i know a lot of cars run a little lean at high rpms due to injectors being maxed out. mustangs are one example of this. this car will spend almost all of its life at very high rpms at almost max speed, so i just want to protect against a long term high end lean condition. it is getting 1.6 roller rockers and shaved heads for compression with minor porting and a larger than stock throttle body.

87 Formula ?

Formulas were only made in '88, RPO code W66
VIN 5th digit will be an "E".... as in 1G2PE

if you need to run your VIN go to, http://www.fiero.net/vin.html
it will tell you everything, good tool.

Seems to me the thing to do would be find a shop with a chasis dyno and let them tell you whether you have a lean condition rather than spend lots of money on injectors and lose power.
