i have a corvair with the 87 grand am interior in it. seats console steering wheel i have used the floor shifter and the electrics on the column. i want to install a cruise control on the car but not an after market if i can help it. i see an 87 grand am cruise on ebay but it look like just the pull part of the unit. can anyone tell me if the 87 cruise control has a separate brain i have to install or is that part on ebay all i need for electrics and just connect it to power and the user control on the wheel? also i will need the turn signal lever for the grand am with out washer control just the cruise if anyone has one laying around. tried to up load pictures of the unit can't see them yet. and the lever i need. thanks bob p.

You need a hanes or similar manual to look up the wiring diagram for the 87 grand am switch and the 93 sunbird cruise control. Seems like a lot of work to buy old not necessarily reliable parts as opposed to going aftermarket.

The 87 unit may have the cruise signal coming from the ECM, the 93 unit does for sure. as I said in your other thread, after market will be much easier and Rostra is the nicest one I have had. Works great and easy to install.

yes your correct. i was just looking to keep it stock looking. the after market units down't have the stalks that match the originals unless lately they have designed some. if you find one please pass the item along. i have an after market unit and i had it installed but i did not care for the stalk so i took it out. if i could get the stalk to at least look stock then i would re-install that one. again thanks.
