Newbie here. I just bought an 87 Sunbird, and I am trying to fix the AC. It appears I am missing a tensioner pulley and dont know what it looks like. The diagram under the hood shows a pulley in the center between the crank and AC pump. Can anyone provide a picture as reference? I have looked and can't find any info with regards to this part. It appears the same engine was used for GM veh 82-94 J2000, Sunbird, Buick Skyhawk, Cad Cimarron, Chev Cavalier, Olds Firenza.

I also purchased the Haynes Manual and makes no reference to it. Any help is appreciated. Pictures would be a plus!

Mel, thats for the serpentine belt, the a/c runs off a vbelt ,sort like an old Datsun type pulley with a screw bolt adjuster.

i'll see if i can find a pic or take one of mine.

stst

gm part number 10116209 or 10042943 or 10042942

ac delco part number 15-2574

one right now on ebay ( 15-2574) for less than half the dealer cost for new

looks like yours is different than mine cause mine has the v5 compressor and yours uses the old bulky a6 one in 87

bracket comes with pulley

Thanks Gents. I'll get to ordering next. A pic would still help as I don't know which direction it goes. I also don't see how the tension works, I don't see a spring or tension spring to provide the support.

Thanks Doug, I'm waiting on the part, and in the mean time, I replaced the bolts on the compressor. It was being held in place by 2 bolts, and missing about 4 bolts. The system is charged, however I think parts were lost whenever it was worked on last.

I appreciate the help, and the diagram was very handy. I could not find any reference anywhere.

Your welcome and glad to help..... most dealers online that sell GM parts show diagrams also.

TOMKIN, and NALLEY GMC are a couple I use alot.
