89 formula firebird won't crank

Hi, I have a 89 formula firebird with the 305 v8 automatic. The car was running fine till one day I took it out, stalled 8 times, on the 8th time it was completely done. Every time I went to slow down is when it would stall. Now when I try to start it nothing happens, no cranking, nothing. I still have power to everything else, headlights, interior lights, ect. Battery and starter are fine not sure what to look for from here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

if you have no cranking how did you determine there is nothing wrong with the starter? what is the current voltage reading of the battery anything less than 12.75 is not a fully charged battery. Did you check the battery cable connections both at the battery, the starter, and the ground?

I bought a new starter and I had a mechanic buddy replace it, well he took my old one off and hooked it up to his battery and he said the starter was fine, he also testes the battery and the battery is also fine, cleaned the battery cables with a brush, I'll check the ground when I get home, just not sure what else is causing the problem, it ran like a champ then out of no where died

do you have 12 volts at starter terminal where the battery cable connects? do you have 12 volts at the starter terminal for the switch when you turn the switch to start? if not did the fusible link melt?

I'll have to check when I get off work posted now so I could get some suggestions to try out, but also I should throw out that I'm not to savy with cars I'm on the process of learning lol so bare with me

Alright haven't been able to test anything, but I was talking to my buddy I had helping me with starter, he was saying how you could take a screwdriver accross the positive and negative and it will start, well he tried when he was under it and got nothing, there's no power from one side

thus the need for a voltmeter to check the main battery feed at the starter and the solenoid terminal from the switch
