Is the head off of a 91 2.0L, and Oil pan, block be installed onto a 90 2.0L block?

90 vs.91 short block auto or manual

Well now there seems to be a new question. Is a short block going to have any effect as to whether I have an automatic or manual transmission. I understand the full engine is specific to Auto or Manual and the wiring harness. I am just wanting to purchase the short block but those selling it have no idea and it's like trying to find hens teeth getting info from GM or a dealer. I am sure if I were to purchase a new car if they offered the information they would be knocking down my door. Thank youguys for your patients and information.

I'm fairly certain that the engine's compatibility with the transaxle is agnostic of whether it is manual or auto. Most engines are. They should bolt up the same way.

Also, you might consider picking up a Haynes service manual for the Sunbird. Last time I checked Rock Auto's website, they were selling for around $16 per book. Not bad for a wealth of information about your car, including procedures to just about do *anything*. ;)

The auto will bolt to the engine with a flexplate. The manual will have a flywheel. Other than that, the belhousings bolt patern is the same.
