My 91Sunbird started rough the other day then ran okay but I heard a clicking noise.
When I got home and popped the hood, the clicking sounded more like a rattle. The noise was every few seconds and did not change with engine speed. I started it the next morning to back out of the drive way, it started rough but died as I was backing. Hasn't started since. It cranks. I replaced rotor and distributor cap because of corrosion. Still didn't start. No spark with plug removed, and trying to ground to frame.
Pistons are moving as I am getting puffs of air. Was told to check distributor rotation - NONE. Cam rotation - NONE. Timing belt cover half removed. Belt not moving but not broken. So maybe there are some teeth sheered off. Trying to figure out what to do next. My buddy said the first thing was to determine if it was resistant or non resistant.
If it is a resistant engine then my valves are probably bent and I can't afford to fix.
Can anyone answer this question about this engine.
