My wifes 1992 bonneville se 3800 engine, was losing coolant, shop said it was radiator cap and coolant was evaporating. and had it replaced. coolant stopped leaking out. few days later, car died on wife. shop then said upper and lower intake needed replaced. According to them it was cracked but not bad enough to allow large amounts of coolant into engine. We replaced it. Now car will run and hesitate after about 20-30 minutes of driving. It will downshift or bog down while driving and lose power. And it will also hesitate or bog down on take off. But only seems to do this after it has gotten up temp after about 20 to 30 mins of drive time. Other times it takes off fine. If you listen with the windows rolled down when its bogging down it produces a ticking sound, to me it is reminiscent of an exhaust leak. Like exhaust air blowing out hitting the ground producing the tick. Any thought on what may be wrong. Or what this shop might have done. Wife says its always done that ever since coolant leak started, but I never could reproduce it. Now its definitely doing it. And will do it every time after about 30 mins of drive time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hate these engines...NO OFFENSE.

1. Do you have a check engine or service engine light on?
2. Can you do a scan for computer codes?
http://www.troublecodes.net/gm/
3.Are you still loosing coolant?
4. Do you still have the original catalytic converter on the car?
5. How many miles since you changed the fuel filter?

No check engine. Only 80 thou on odometer. Original miles. Same fuel filter and catalyst. Coolant no longer leaking.

You never changed the fuel filter? If so, way overdue!
