95 sunfire running hot?

Hi. I just had a 95 sunfire given to me and it runs hot. I think its the fan not kicking in. So I unpluged it from the car and pluged it in a plug i cut off a other sunfire that was in a crash. Stuck the two wire coming off it to a jumper pack and it works. So i check the fuse and relay and there good so why is my fan not kicking in?

did you try replacing the temp. sensor

If the temp sensor is bad wouldn't the heat gauge not work?
