I was going to pick up my girlfriend from work, on the way there it drove just fine. But after picking her up, on the way home, the car started shaking alot when accelerating and seem to take longer to get up to speed. Also, when accelerating, the engine and/or exhaust seemed to be a lot louder. Once up to speed and releasing the gas pedal a little, the car seemed fine, but if you have to press the pedal again the noise/shudder comes back.

When I got my oil changed a couple weeks ago, they said I needed a new front passenger side axle and a new motor mount. Could either of those two things could be causing this? And if not, does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?

Also, I'm pretty sure my catalytic converter is clogged and will need to be replaced. Maybe could that be causing it?

how could they tell you needed a new axle just by doing an oil change? Is the boot torn, that can be replaced without the need for an axle. Any chance, since you say the converter is clogged that you blew a hole in the exhaust system before the cat?

They didn't tell me it was clogged. The car has poor acceleration so I figured it was the cat but I'm not sure if that was the problem. And the axle was part of their 20 point inspection. And yes, they did say the boot was torn and they said it was throwing grease all over the place. I'm pretty sure the axle is fine and just the boot needs replacing.

concerning the acceleration, can you temporarily disconnect the pipe in front of the cat and see if the car runs better.

I can and was thinking of doing that, but just haven't got around to it.

I went to Autozone to order a new axle, the re-manufactured one that was special order was 47.99, but they had a new one for 20 bucks more that was in stock so I bought that one.

Figured out what the noise and shaking is from. After I picked up my girlfriend from work, I drove home and parked the car, looked under the car to put a piece of cardboard under since I have an oil leak. And to my surprise, I saw the lower passenger motor mount just hanging down.
