As you can see, I know little or nothing about cars. This is my granddaughters car and she know even less.
Yes, I meant timing chain. The timing chain broke and the shop fixed it. I don't know if a compression test was done after they replaced the chain, but I will ask. A day or 2 later, the car started knocking and it was taken back to the shop immediately. They replaced the lifters, did a compression test and every thing was fine at that time. They said the problem was in the bottom of the engine. It was not tore apart at that time. If the timing chain was not installed properly to the oil pump, how long would it take before the lower part of the engine would start knocking? Could it just be a coincidence that the oil pump went out within days of the timing chain?
