I recently bought a new computer for my 96 sunfire. It came from autozone, and I installed it. Problem is, I can't seem to get the new ecm to recognize my keys. According to the paper that came with the computer, I was supposed to turn the key to the "on" position and wait 10 mins for the anti-theft light to go off and repeat 3 times... problem is that the light stays on solid and will not go off even after 30 mins. The car starts, but then dies right away. I've already replaced almost everything in the firing assembly, help would be greatly appreciated.

IIRC, the new ECU/PCM/computer needs flashing. The security light will flash if the security system is activated. If the security light is on steady, the system is ready, at least it should be.
The instrument panel (IP) is what controls the security system. The IP has its own processor, and I'm reasonably sure that the replacement computers need flashing (programed to the IP) before they'll work correctly.

The following may or may not work.

Disconnect the - battery terminal and step on the brake pedal incase any power is stored in the systems capacitors, if it has any.
Reconnect the battery and turn on the ignition, but do not engage the starter.
Check and see if the security light is flashing when the ignition is first turned on. If it is, leave the key on for 10 minutes, even if the light stops flashing before that time period ends. If the engine still starts and stops, the PCM needs flashing.
The unfortunate part of this, the car must be taken to the dealer for programing.
