97 Firebird....rear bumperstop question ()

Does anyone happen to know the height of the rubber/urethane portion of the bumperstops in the rear. Its a piece between the rear axle and frame body. Mine were deteriorated when i bought the car, and its beating the hell out of my body when i hit any bump. I dont have money to replace them but i do have some urethane blocks to make my own and fasten to the metal mounting bracket. Also does the axle rest against these stops in normal position? Thanks in advance.

sounds like your springs are shot, there should be multiple inches between stops and the axles
