my 97 pontiac grand am gt 4cylinder is knocking loud in 1st and 2nd gear not to bad in 3 4 5 th gear whays wrong
 
ur gonna need a new engine. If I could suggest one get a 4 cyl.Mitsubishi motor. I have a 2000 Sunfire and had to replace the engine and purchased a 4 cly. Mitsubishi motor from the salvage yard with about 50,000 miles on it and it only cost me about $200
