97 sunfire poor power and rough idle

Is this a lost spark ignition. The coil fires one for power the other one at bdc on other cylinder. Two plugs per coil, right?

I've changed the module thats under the coil packs and it made no difference? I'm going to try new plug wires but first will swap them around to new possitions in correct fire order of course to see if the spark increases where it's weaker on #1 and 2 while strong on #3 and 4.

I've swapped out the EGR,MAP sensor, crank possision and cam possision sensors, ignition module, and swapped the plug wire around while keeping it in fire order but it still has a weaker spark on the #1 and #2 plug. I tried switching #1 wire from coil pack to #4 plug and #4 to #1 and the weak spark switches to #4. Is there anyway to test/check the coil packs? It just doesn't make sense that the #1 and #2 on both coil packs would be weaker? The coil packs are #1 and 4 on one and #2 and 3 on the other. Is it possible the this could be a timing chain? I'm getting rapid misfire codes on all cylinders?

I know this seems like it's never going to end, and believe me I know? If I change the computer, does it have to be programed if it is used and taken out of another Sunfire with same engine? Is there anyway to get the computer in my car to reset to default or original programing? I've read so many things since Nov. 2013 when this car broke that I can't recall where I read about someone restting the computer with the ignition key some how?

Found out that the PCM CPU does need to be programed, and it's about $110.00 to have the Buick dealer do that. I've ordered a coil pack online and will let you know what it does.

Installed new ignition cables and a new coil pack for #3 and #2 sparkplug and it made no improvement? I'm going to remove the timing cover and check those parts tomorrow.

I finally gave into removing the timing cover and found the tensioner had failed and the chain skipped. I removed all components and installed everything new and the mystery is solved. I can't believe that all the scanning didn't show the engine was out of time?? I had locals suggesting I buy another power control module because the scans were showing everything out of wack. I just wanted to let you folks know that I found the problem by the seat of my pants.

glad you found it, you didnt notice any unusual noise from underneath the timing cover?
