98 doors unlocked by any small key!?

last night I was trying to enter my car in the dark and I noticed that I had accidently used my room key in my door, and the car door unlocked! it doesn't work for keys larger then the Pontiac key but if there about the same size and width it works. This is very upsetting because I don't live in the best neighborhood and I'm expecting a son here in a few months. has anyone else had this problem or heard of Pontiac's doing this? I know for a fact that they are the original door locks. I have a four door if that makes a difference.

Sounds like your locks are bad. My Buick, Pontiac and GMC all use the same size key and will only work in the vehicle they were made for.
