Hey all,
My first post here. :) I just bought a 98 Firebird with the 3.8L engine for my kid. When you first start it up, there is a clicking noise for about 5-10 minutes, until the car is up to operating temp, and then it goes away. Any thoughts about what it might be? I checked the oil level and it's good.
Thanks for the help,
Paul

My dad has a problem with his 01 Silverado with the 5.3 and it was (I am pretty sure) one of the studs on his exhaust manifold. The cold temperature allowed more clearance, with the heat it had expanded and allowed no clearance.

I am not sure if this is what your problem is but thought it may help!

Thanks, I'll check those bolts and see if any are loose. :)

I am not sure whether an exhaust manifold had a crack, stud/bolt was broken, loose, or what the deal was. However, for sure it had to do with the manifold in general

You will have to make more of an attempt to determine where exactly the noise is coming from.
