I have a 1998 Grand Am GT 5speed 90k mile, with the 2.4L Quad and it has been overheating for some time now, I assume it is the head but there is not any anti freeze in the oil, I can drive it for about 20-30mins before it will start overheating. I just want to know if it could be anything else other then the head before spending alot of money and time attempting to fix it. Any help would be great

And if anybody knows a good guide for replacing the head on a 2.4L quad, just in case i have to. If you could share it that would be great

Thank you

have you done a pressure test to check for leaks? have you considered your thermostat needs replacing? have you checked if the engine fans are turning on at the correct temperature?

re overheating

The pressure cap should be replaced, They cost 8.$. Pressure caps are usually the culprit if there are no coolant leaks, internal or external.
