98 Pontiac Sunfire battery light flashes sometimes and when i turn heat on lights

dim? ok my battery light flashes sometimes for no reason the car will be running fine and then the battery light will come on for a short second i took it and had it tested battery is fine and the alternator i notice it more if i go long distances?
Secondly when i turn my heat on in my car i notice the lights dim and when i come to a red light the lights dim?

well it sounds like an alternater it should be puting out at least 13.5 to 14.5 volts if it under 13.5 your alternater is going out

have alternator recheck my have bad diodes you may also have loose wires or bear ones

I would also check the terminals for corrosion at the posts and starter terminal on the starter and ground wires for rust and corrosion they can all cause a dim light condition and or the batt lamp to come on ...
