We are having this same issue with a 1998 Pontiac sunfire starts and then 2 seconds later shuts off..what do I do I can not afford a mechanic.

Not sure what answer you are looking for, Either you learn how to run tests to determine the problem, save up for a mechanic or sell the car as is.
