98 sunfire 2.4 temp sensor

got a new one at autozone,but it has two wires,the wiring diagram shows two wires,but my car has only 1 wire,and it wont plug in. Why are they differnt?

Which temperate sensor are you talking about?

I could only find one. On the thermostat housing,but it only has a one wire plug.

Everyone thinks im blind. My coolant temp sensor mounted on thermostat housing has only one wirr. Its yellow with blk stripe. My brother,who works at pontiac dealer says its a two wire sensor and on diagram wires are brown and yellow. I think the one wire is a fan switch and the two wire is hiding someiwhere on the motor. Where?

did you look in area of upper radiator hose where is connects to a pipe

I have a 1998 SE 2.4L and I just replaced mine a couple weeks ago. Mine also has 1 wire and haven't had any problems.

Edit: Nvm, I was looking at the wrong sensor.
