99 grand am low coolant light

Simple question. Why doesnt the low coolant light turn off after you fill the expansion tank? Anyway to reset? is this a drive cycle thing? please help.
 
it's because the floater inside the tank is gunkt up and getting stuck or the level sensor is bad
 
thank you very much Roadrunner. I will check that out. More than likely it is gunked up. I believe i replaced the sensor not that long ago. Thanks again
 
you might want to pull thetank out throw a teaspoon of dawn soap fill it with water and shake the hell out of it..rinse and repeat..the rinse with water very well
