Hello everyone,

I have a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire GT with the 2.4L, automatic. Just recently, it's been having a problem(s). Before that, it ran perfectly fine. Not one single issue. Then all of a sudden...well...one day when I was driving to work, it's like it lost power. There isn't any knocking/pinging, although the brand new exhaust that I had installed by the dealer, "muffles", when the car is running. It accelerates REALLY slow. Even if I push the gas pedal down as far as possible, it takes it forever to accelerate. I checked the spark plugs, which were fine, but I replaced them with new ones, gaped properly, just to be on the safe side. I also replaced the spark plug "wires", ignition coils, and ignition coil housing. It still does the same stuff. My battery seems fine, however, would a "not so good" battery, cause such problems? I was reading through some stuff online and was wondering if it could be the E.G.R. Valve (whatever exactly that is)? Or ignition module? If anybody could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. I couldn't thank you enough. Hopefully someone can. Thanks for reading. Take care.
I completely forgot to mention one thing. When this problem(s) started, the E.T.S. light stays on all of the time, even if I push the button on the shift knob. Would the problem(s) have something to do with that (the E.T.S.)?

Thanks everyone so far for the answers!

have the car scanned for computer codes when the light is on, you didnt mention replacing your fuel filter.

What is E.T.S.??

How about performing a Resistance (Ohms) check on the Injectors?
ALL Injectors have a specific operating range and outside of it these units don't well perform when/if at all.
It could well be clogged screens of the Injectors which would well cause your performance problems or a worn Fuel Rail Regulator.
With the Engine running, check the Injectors for clicking (with a stethoscope or long screwdriver on the Injector and a ear on the handle) which indicates they're working however the clicking doesn't always denote Fuel delivery.
The Unit may well be working but the delivery point (Pintle) is jammed up from corrosion or other gunk.

It could as well be simply as melsg5 mentioned, a tired Fuel Filter.
WE hope that is it.
