About interior lighting

Just trying to remember when my interior lights will turn on in the following situations:
* When van is not running.
* When van is running.
* When driver side door is open.

Currently my interior lights only turn on when my van is not running.

Need to verify these situations for a possibility of a possibly short with the interior lighting.

interior lights come on when : any door is open ,when a person inside turns on the interior light switch(the light dimmer control switch below the headlight switch) by turning the dimmer wheel to the right until it clicks. or someone who turns on any light from the switch built into the light . all of these situations can happen either with the van running or not. a couple of things to remember up on the over head console there is a switch to override the interior lights,and when van is not running and a door if left open and lights on there is a timeout delay to turn them off to prevent battery drainage "battery rundown feature" all this is described in the owners manual alot better than i caN EXPLAIN.
