My abs and trac control light were staying on. I replaced both front wheel bearings about 5000 miles ago and the lights went out - problem solved. Well, this weekend, while on the interstate i accelorated from 55 to 70 rather rapidly and the lights came back on. Any ideas.

I have the same issue , believe it or not my cousin has it as well... I have a montana 2008 and my cousin has the chevrolet venture ... since this is so common as a problem and unsure what is to fix... I guess GM should have a recall and put a smarter sensor to indicate the exact probelm.. unsure why we should pay everytime for a diagnostic fees for something so common within these minivans... not until someone get killed by an accident and similar to Toyota recall ...then GM will do something about it

Doesnt the computer show a code when these lights come on?

I have the same problem on my 98 Sunfire. The answer is no, it doesn't throw a code when these lights come on.

I believe what is going on here is you have a bad wheel sensor(s) and that also turns on your trac control light cause they use the same sensors ,you need now to find that bad sensor .

Thank you ..I have to talked to the dealership and they said they want to charge $129 just to run the scanner to identify which wheel sensor ... plus the charge of changing wheel sensor ... is there any other way to identify which bad sensor ...I can not afford everytime we have a code coming up to get charged for diag. prior to work

I understand ,I try myself to limit the times I goto the stealership , try your local autozone, advance auto or similar place they will read the codes for you for free trying to lure you into buying from them the parts . Also a few posts back one of the members said it is usually a front wheel sensor wiring that goes bad you can give it a visual check of the wiring, under the front wheels you can see the wire harness there in fact it connects to the wheel/hub/bearing there . I would check that connection as well maybe it got wet and corroded ?? Keep us posted any more questions just ask

Turns out it was the passenger rear wheel sensor & hub bearing, not the front sensors I had just replaced. Mechanic said I was lucky as the bearing was about to just fall off it was so bad. Lesson learned - when ABS/trac control light comes on have it checked.

I just had this happen to me to my 99 Montana. The traction control light would intermittently turn on especially when I accelerate hard. On my home today it stayed on until the ABS and TCS lights stayed on. When I got home I shut off the van and the lights are now off. Drove it a bit and they are still off. I replaced the pass. side wheel bearing last Feburary when on my way back from Denver the bearing froze. I was doing 75mph when it went and it sheared off the lug nuts and the tire came off just as I got the van stopped. I have a clicking noise coming from that side too. I greased the tie rod end which I replaced then also and it went away for a while. Now it clicks when I hit a bump. I am assuming the speed sensor or CV shaft maybe? Any ideas fellas?

I should note that the lights never came on when the bearing failed. It sounded like a helicopter was in the van. It made a whop whop sound like the blades of a helicopter. I'm gonna call the stealership to get it in but dam I don;t trust them. Also I didn't know the rear wheels had sensors. What are they for exactly? Any help would be appreciated

Wow what a story, that had to scare the sh-t out of you,any advance warning ? The rear sensors are for abs , not sure if they are independent are work together as a pair, maybe some one with more knowledge will chime in. The clicking noise on the pass side could be alot of things ,loose caliper,cv joint, or even the torsion bar(i think thats whats it called) the big black bar that goes from side to side connects to the pins,I had one that was cracked at the crimp but it made a loud sound on bumps that flexed the front end. Hope this helps keep us posted

Same thing happens to me. when i accelerate quickly comes on AND when i slam my brakes harder than usual they come off

Have similar issues on my 99 Montana but I think its the module

Ohmed out all sensors and they all appear good. Did this under the car at the wheels as well as at the connector under drivers side against side panel behind the dash. For now just grounded out the 2 lights ABS and TCS to not have them glaring at me. Will look for a module in the junk yard. Note modules are different w and w/o TCS. Have to find the same one.
