Hi everyone. I have a question about my ABS light. I had a mechanic check it out and according to him he said that codes C1223 (left rear) and C1224 (right rear) are both coming up as "input signal is zero". He said the visual wiring under the car is okay but he thinks it could be that wiring harness under the rug . I already fixed 5 of those so I thought I got them all but I guess I may of missed one. Can anyone tell me what color the wires would be for the anti lock brakes so when I pull the rug back again I can find them easier. I looked in my Haynes manual but it is pretty"bleak" on the colors of the wiring. Thank you for any help you can give me.
 
how does he know you dont need the sensors replaced?

Perhaps wire color can be changed. Depending on the vehicle model year
But you can check the wire from the sensor to the ABS block

Thanks alot Sergeimoskva and melsg5 for the replys. I guess he really can't say that the rear wheel sensor work or not but when he tested them he wasn't getting a signal on either rear wheels. That is why he thought it was a wire under the carpet.

Okay I have checked, rechecked and triple checked all the wires on my 2002 that I could under the rug and there are no more that are broke. The mechanic said that both rear wheels in the back had no signal going to them when he checked them and that is why he thought I had a bad wire. He said that the odds of both speed sensors being bad is rare but he really couldn't test them if there was no signal going to either rear wheel. Is there a tool I can get to check continuity easy enough with out poking wires constantly??
 
I am thinking I may have figured out why my ABS light,AWD light, my gas gauge reads full and sometimes my van won'the start easily at times. I will be checking the C305 connector that I believe is under the car behind the drivers seat. If it ever stops snowing! Dang I thought it was spring! Is there something I can get to get rid of some corrosion on the wires that I think I am going to find?
 
50/50 mix of white vinegar and distilled water. pour it in to a small bowl and let the connectors and a little of the wire soak.

if you have a small ultrasonic jewelry cleaner the solution would work even better.

Either way flush the vinegar solution away with some baking soda and distilled water then clean once again in just distilled water.

use some dielectric compound to protect the connectors once your finished cleaning them.

Can anyone tell me how likely it would be that on those female plugs that the contact is spread apart too far or how to tell if they are? Those connectors on the C305 don't look too bad. I don't see any corrosion. Do I drill those rivets off that connector so I can get a better look? Thank you!

Looking at all the factory wiring problems the Montana has I am glad I never purchased one.

Thanks for helping our Montana owners out so much, your pictures and advice has proven to be very useful over and over.

One would hope that a TSB could be found for this wiring problem and they have a cure or updated part.

I want to add . This problem is all the cars with the same body. And this is - Chevy Venture (1997-2005), Oldsmobile Silhouette (1997-2004), Pontiac Trans Sport (1997-1999), Opel Sintra (1997-1999), Pontiac Montana (1997...2000 - 2005) . But there is a car with the same body. This is - Buick GL8 (...2002)

I took the C305 connector apart and it was in great shape-no corrosion. I then tested the continuity from the female plug to both rear anti-lock brake speed sensors and I do have continuity so no broken wires. I am starting to thing that it is the female side of the plug that plugs into the C305 connector because some of them are opened up wide. Do I replace those connectors or do I just pull them out and fix them somehow? If I replace them where do I get ones like them? Thanks again EVERYONE for your help.
 
These metal connectors inside the plastic connector can be released with a small sharp pick and removed from the connector.

Carefully pull it out and bend it back in shape and reinsert it back into the connector.

Since they spread apart, try and find out why. maybe the harness is moving around too much and needs to be supported better.
 
Thank you EaOutlaw for your help. I did just that and I still can't get those lights to go out. I don't know what else to look for anymore. I have complete continuity from the harness back to the brakes.

Sometimes when I shut the car off and restart it the ABS/AWD lights are off. I actually have to start driving without hitting the brakes and then they will go on. Could that be a bad wheel sensor wire? If I take it to autozone will they be able to tell me? I am hoping someone can give me some more hints on what I can do. Thank you!

You are testing for continuity but the problem is described as loss of signal. Why arent you using a voltmeter to determine if the ABS system is sending anything to the wheel sensors?
 
I'm sorry EaOutlaw I am learning as I go. How to I check it with a voltmeter? I was told there was no signal so I thought it had something to do with a broken wire. That is why I was checking for continuity. The person I talked to about this said that he thought it had something to do with the c305 connector. Do I check it with the key on engine off or do I have the car running to check it with the voltmeter?
 
I just wanted to let everyone know that I finally figured out what my problem was. I replaced the right rear wheel hub. First time I have done something like that. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be! I want to thank EVERYONE that helped me with this problem! Now on to the next!
