Here's a good one for someone,, I have a 2001 Grand Am SE 3.4L,, recently my check engine light came on, also the ABS light and trac control turned off,, here's the joke part, if I turn the car off,, slam the drivers door hard the lights don't come back on but it keeps happening,, any ideas?? no codes come up either
This problem is usually caused by a bad ignition switch. This is very common on these vehicles. The instrument cluster needs to be removed in order to replace the ignition switch. Some other common causes would be a bad Body Control Module or even just a bad instrument cluster. Be sure to get ALL of your modules scanned for codes. Not just your PCM. You need a full blown factory scan tool (GM Tech 2) or equivalent to pull codes from your PCM, BCM, ABS module and even your instrument cluster. A code reader or pocket scanner will not do the trick.. it will only pull codes from the PCM..
