I have a 2002 sunfire, there is a abs, trac off, service engine lights on. For the abs light i was told there was a short in the system somewhere (where would it most likely be). the trac off light comes on with the service engine light, any thoughts on why? It doesnt affect driving (panic stops makes it skid)

You need to have it scanned for the codes. That will tell you what the problem is. Most parts stores will scan it for free, but may not be able to get the abs codes.

I scanned the engine codes a few weeks ago. Is there a sequence to scan the abs codes, since I don't have access to a advanced scanner that can scan anything but engine codes

if your scanner doesn't work with abs you have to use an ohmmeter to determine if one of the sensors has failed or if the wire harness going to the sensor is broken or the connector is dirty or broken. The resistance value should be in the 1200 to 1900 ohm range.

where are the sensors? are they right behind the brake discs on the front?. There is a big silver cube with brake lines feeding out right underneath the master cylinder. Is that the abs main unit? how many sensors are there?

Thanks

they are behind the disks in the front and you have them in the rear also, a total of four. Under the hood is the main ABS unit.
