ac? overheating? wtf?

I have an 04 sunfire with about 100K on it. Just recently I've had this problem where when I'm idling or at a stop light with the ac on the car starts to overheat quickly and the ac blows hot air. This happens with the ac off as well, but the overheating is much slower. I just want to know wtf is up with my car.

check if the radiator fan is working when the car runs hot

Radiator fan is not working, and that could be the problem, but what else could be causing this? Thermostat? low coolant? water? radiator?

if you dont fix the fan how are you going to know if you have additional problems such as a bad thermostat or a clogged radiator?
